What is PhoneMic?
PhoneMic is an app for iPhone and Android that turns your phone into a wireless microphone for a Windows or Linux PC. The phone captures your voice and streams it over your own Wi-Fi to a free receiver on the PC, which shows up there as a normal microphone.
Which apps does it work with?
Any app that lets you pick a microphone: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Discord, OBS and the rest.
What do I need?
An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, or an Android phone with Android 8.0 or later. A Windows 10 or 11 PC with the free VB-CABLE driver, or a Linux PC with a PipeWire desktop (Fedora 36+, Ubuntu 22.10+, Debian 12+, Arch). The phone and the PC have to be on the same Wi-Fi.
Does it work with a Mac?
No. The PhoneMic receiver runs on Windows and Linux.
Does my audio leave my network?
No. Audio goes straight from the phone to the PC over your local network, uncompressed at 48 kHz. There is no account, no cloud and no recording.
How much does it cost?
The Windows and Linux receivers are free. The phone app needs a subscription to stream, with a free trial for new subscribers. The App Store and Google Play show the price for your country before you pay.
Is PhoneMic the same as phonemic.app?
No. phonemic.app is a different product from another developer that uses the same name. The PhoneMic phone app on the App Store and Google Play is made by Serdar Oztetik and works only with the free receiver on this site.
